‘Remember who put you there’ contains influences down the lines of: Metallica, Clutch, Snot and Down. The heavy metal crusaders from Portsmouth may have just been able to match them in producing an great album consisting of 4 amazing tunes. It’s been one of my favorite albums of 2010 so far which hasn’t been from a band on a major label. One album, four tunes, one hell of a time.
‘Remember Who Put You There’ starts off with the song ‘Sexual Chocolate’. I don’t think that this is a good way to start the album, its a slow paced song with no vocal line to it. I would have preferred the opening song to sound a bit like the mind blowing title track ‘Remember Who Put You There’ which has the amazing chorus: “The rules, always in the rules. The Law, that is what it’s for. To feed, feed the fucking greed. We know, we know what you do, we know what you do.” It’s just the ideal sing along mosh pit chorus.
An EP is usually the thing that introduces the band into the big world of metal. I’d say with this genre defying album Belligerence have a great chance at getting on a label like Metal Blade, Maybe ever Roadrunner. Who Knows? From the down tuned riffing of the guitar to the earth shaking vocals, ‘Remember who put you there’ is a definitely a must have for fans of the Stoner and Thrash Metal Genre. In my eyes I can certainly put my money on something big happening to this band before the year is out. Either through being signed or supporting an act that have influenced the Portsmouth quartet in making the ground breaking EP ‘Remember who put you there’.
